About the Artist
Evewright is a British artist, with parentage from Jamaica, who grapples with new dimensions in drawing working across multi media. His work explores the intricate connections between the body and our experience of the modern environment. His work demonstrates an extraordinary dedication to producing large-scale and challenging work including the natural environment and public sphere. He has consciously used historical and personal observations as his primary source, including oral histories and memories from Caribbean elders, to reinterpret contemporary issues using modern day media - moving image, photography, sculpture, drawings, and live performance. Social and political issues are veins, which run through his art practice which seeks to tackle concerns with issues around migration, black identity in the UK and the diaspora. His current art projects reflect these concerns, experiences and interpretations. They fit within the theme of stimulating new perspectives about the value of art and society, they embrace cultural diversity and bring diverse under represented voices and stories to light.
